From: James Wilton, Portland, USA

Dear Pieter,

Dr. Garbino's article is excellent in describing lesion levels along the tibial nerve. I have been performing tibial nerve decompression neurolysis surgery on Hansen patients for the past 14 years in Ecuador. Postoperatively we have demonstrated on electro-diagnostic testing return of sensation and return of motor power in over 50% of the patients that we operate on. We also have identified a more proximal site of compression at the Soleal Sling interproximal posterior lower leg and decompress this area routinely with these patients.

Dr. James Wilton
